This booklet guides parents in using positive discipline. The book describes what positive discipline is: supporting children, showing them what you want and rewarding acceptable behaviour. Ideas are provided for helping children of different age groups behave in an acceptable way. In addition, the book lists sources of further parenting information, and explains New Zealand's legislation on child discipline following the implementation of the 2007 law change. This booklet is a revised edition of 'Choose to Hug: Not to Smack: Awhitia, Kaua e Papakitia - information for caregivers, parents and whānau" first published in 2003, see item 2587 (retained for historical purposes).
