The Family Law Committee of the New Zealand Law Society noted that from the inception of the Act, this legislation had required the Committee's almost constant attention as family law practitioners raised their concerns about aspects of the legislation and its practical workings. The Committee decided to establish the Domestic Violence Special Projects Committee to: - review the practical workings of the Domestic Violence Act 1995 from the family lawyer's perspective, and - to recommend changes to the Act, if changes were perceived as necessary as a result of information gathered from practitioners. Practitioners' responses form the basis of this report. (From pages 4 & 5). Record #5014
