This brief annotated bibliography complements the “What Works : Improving outcomes for children with a parent in prison” publication. It outlines selected literature and is intended as a starting point for those interested in knowing more about the effects of parental incarceration on children and interventions for improving outcomes. The first section highlights some of the (mainly negative) outcomes associated with having a parent in prison. The second section features promising interventions for at risk children which are also likely to be effective for children with a parent in prison.
