The research was funded by the Accident Compensation Corporation of New Zealand (ACC) and contributes to the development of useable national practice guidelines. This particular report is an annotated bibliography created for the purpose of increasing access to New Zealand literature relating to treatment approaches, effective assessment, rehabilitation strategies, prevalence and other information in the area of sexual abuse. The items included were obtained by means of literature searches of a number of catalogues and databases and a number of New Zealand professional journals. To assist the reader the articles have been collated into eleven major themes ranging from prevalence, assessment and diagnosis, disclosure, allegations and legal issues, to recovered memories, policies regarding evidential interviewing, effects of sexual abuse, treatment, therapy and related issues, prevention, policy and theory. The author argues that, while the bibliography is not exhaustive, it is a comprehensive and broad collection of articles representative of the work that has been undertaken in New Zealand. Future updates of the bibliography are intended. Please do not quote this report without permission.
