Its focus is on increasing understanding of the journeys and lived experience of rangatahi and aims to share their voices as they move from statutory care to self-determined living. Research was undertaken over three years by a research collaboration made up of three external regional teams working in partnership with the Oranga Tamariki Evidence Centre. This report examines key findings from across the three years and in particular, the third and final year which explores the experiences of rangatahi at 18 to 24 months after they left the care or custody of Oranga Tamariki and transitioned into independent living, in some cases supported by the Transition Support Service (TSS.
