Introduction of a Tiriti-based approach to designing a national survey on
human rights
This paper describes how Te Kāhui Tika Tangata Human Rights Commission (the Commission) developed the
framework for a baseline national survey on human rights. The framework was developed in alignment with
the four articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This document may provide insight for those considering how to apply Te Tiriti to their work, in particular survey research. It may also assist those interested in how a baseline human rights survey framework could be developed in the Aotearoa New Zealand context.
